Mark Blane and Ben Mankoff’s delightful feature debut follows the whimsical, sunny-side-up story of Mark (Blane), who moves from the midwest to New York City and becomes a babysitter for a hip, affluent Park Slope family. While befriending Milo, his new protégé, Mark faces the difficulties of working-class life in the big city, made all the more troublesome thanks to an LSD-laced cupcake that brings to life his secret fantasy, the Leatherman.

Director Bios

Mark Blane is a New York based actor, director and screenwriter originally from Indiana. His writing credits include the 2012 play/book The Rock and the Ripe (Rosie’s Theater Kids/Hetrick Martin Institute), the short film Feel So Good for Stuart Weitzman starring Zoe Saldana, and the Netflix Original The Death and Life of Marsha P Johnson, co-written with Oscar® nominated director David France, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017. Mark is the writer, director, and lead actor of his first feature film, Cubby. The film is co-directed by Ben Mankoff, scored by Grammy winning musician Jon Natchez (The War on Drugs), cast by the incomparable Henry Russell Bergstein CSA (Moonrise Kingdom), and executive produced by Henry van Ameringen (Love Is Strange). Cubby is Mark’s screen acting debut.
 
Ben Mankoff is an American film director, actor, screenwriter, and producer. He stars in and produced Christine Pfister’s upcoming feature film Mamamoon and produced the short films Daniel.Noah. and Stationary for Bruce Goldberg. His first feature Cubby premiered in International Competition at Torino LGBTQ’s 34th Festival, and went on to play Inside Out Toronto, Mostra Fire!!, and the upcoming festivals Frameline43 and Outfest Los Angeles. He co-directed and co-wrote the short films Like Fine Silk and Miracle Fruit with Sandra Manzanares. His next projects include Monarch, a historical television series set in San Francisco, and Portrait, a feature film about a love quadrangle, poetry, and murder.
