Director Bio
An award-winning filmmaker, Kase Pena was born in New York City. She’s a Transgender Latinx Woman, the offspring of working-class parents from the Dominican Republic. Pena recently made history as the first Transgender Latinx Woman to get hired as a staff writer on a scripted TV show when she joined the writing team of Brujas, created by showrunner Tanya Saracho. This past January, Pena shadowed Emmy Award–winning director-showrunner Jill Soloway on Transparent’s musical finale. An active WGA member, she is the only known Transgender Latinx woman to join the Writers Guild of America, West.
